Aeration & Seeding will help bring your lawn back to life!

Aeration and seeding (also called overseeding) are two of the most important services you can provide for your cool-season lawn.

Aerating and seeding are best combined as one service. In the St. Louis area, we have mostly cool-season lawns. You will not see the benefits of using an aerator alone on cool-season grass. You need to add the seed. A thick, weed-free lawn starts with aeration and seeding every year. At Loyalty Lawn Care, we begin to aerate and overseed in early fall around mid-August and continue into early November.

What is aeration?

Lawn aeration, also called core aeration, is the process of perforating the soil, as well as any thatch layer that might exist, by removing a core or plugs of soil and depositing that core on the surface to break down. At Loyalty Lawn Care, we have core aerator machines that are efficient in removing soil cores without damaging your lawn.

Benefits of Aeration for Your Lawn

Allows water, air, and fertilizer to penetrate all the way down to the root zone. This in turn allows the root system to grow deeper, creating a more healthy green lawn.

Reduces the chances of having thatch buildup. Thatch makes it harder for your lawn to absorb water and nutrients. It also makes it more susceptible to disease.

Reduces soil compaction, creating more channels for water, air, and nutrients to travel through. Just like humans, your grass needs water, oxygen, and food to thrive.

Creates the optimal environment for seeding. The new seed has the opportunity to embed in the soil, absorbing nutrients so that it can sprout lush, green grass.

Seeding

Lawn seeding is the process of spreading grass seed over already existing turf. Generally, seeding is best for larger areas where the turf is thin, but not bare, although it can help fill in bare spots. Smaller areas that are thin or infested with weeds can be spot seeded.

Benefits of seeding your lawn include filling in areas of turf damaged by summer stress, diseases, or insects, thickening and increasing its density, improving the lawn’s overall appearance, and enhancing its ability to fight insects and disease.

Weed-Free Seeding Blend

At Loyalty, we use only the highest quality weed-free blend. This is an important distinction between Loyalty and other lawn care companies. While we may not be able to offer the cheapest price, we are pleased to offer our customers a seed product without compromise.

If you cut corners on the grass seed that you order, you end up spreading new weed seed that has not been filtered out from the grass seed. Not many customers want to pay for weed control services, only to have new weed seeds spread all over their lawn!

When you choose aeration and seeding service from Loyalty Lawn Care, you can rest assured that you will receive the best 0-weed blend for your lawn.
